Our Story

We are the Sangwin family, and Circle 6 Farm and Ranch is our passion project turned lifestyle. Greg and I (Laura) recently celebrated our twenty-second year of marriage and living on our own farm in small town Northwest Iowa. We are first-generation family farmers who value knowing where our food comes from. We followed this path when raising our four kids, Laina (19), Zane (17), Violet (15), and Vance (13), who all help on the farm in their own areas. Both Greg and I have full-time jobs in agriculture and started this business in the pursuit of finding a small niche that would allow us to pass the family farm to the next generation. For the last twenty years, we have raised cattle, hogs, and chickens, and only recently expanded to Wagyu cattle. We ventured into a business deal with a close family member, Luke, to start our Wagyu herd. It has grown since then, and we now have a small herd of full blooded Wagyu, a small herd of F1 cross, and a small herd of Angus cross cattle. Our passion is to provide a local and sustainable meat option that is raised ethically and is nutritionally dense for the people around us.

Meet the Family

  • Greg & Laura

The brains and the brawn of the operation have been married for twenty-two years and have been enjoying watching the kids grow up on the farm while also following their passion of providing others with healthy, whole foods.

  • Laina

Our oldest daughter, Laina, is a junior at Iowa State studying Agricultural Communication and Food Science. She is the head of marketing for the business and enjoys educating people about rural agriculture.

  • Zane

Our oldest son, Zane, is a jack of all trades, helping out on the farm with chores, fixing machinery in the shop, and driving the combine during the harvest season, just to name a few.

  • Violet

Our youngest daughter, Violet, likes to spend her time riding horses and practicing for horse shows. On the farm, she takes care of the horses but also runs part of the hog operation.

  • Vance

The baby of the family, Vance, single-handedly runs the poultry operation on the farm, including laying hens and broiler chickens. He recently expanded to quail that he hatched himself in an incubator.

  • Luke & Family

Luke wanted to start raising Wagyu cattle, all because he wanted to eat the best steak ever. He decided that his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Greg, could help make this dream a reality since he lives in town instead of on a farm.

  • Brigsby

Our Australian Shepherd Blue Tick Coonhound mutt turned family helper. Brigsby does her share on the farm by guarding gates and helping in the cattle pasture while also protecting the family farm from the very scary wild bunnies that try to infiltrate the garden.

  • Mattie

Our not really adopted, adopted daughter Mattie, is our favorite photographer and should be yours too! She is responsible for taking every photo you can see on our website or social media and does an amazing job. Check out her work at Rawhide Co.
